White Volcano

Step into the world

Like a stroke, a fractured verse,

A shadow carved out of silk.

Like I tend to ignore

My vulnerable fate.

Someone beckons on my blood,

Wanting to dwell in lava.

I rarely answer.

I have no maps, no signs,

In my organs untamed danger,

Wild loneliness;

Vowels that break,

Forests that wilt;

Fire like bliss.

But I no longer enter –

Too bold, too hot,

No matter how light I walk.

So I perch on the edge

Of this worldly dream.

To kiss my lips

Is to kiss the wound

Gifted by God

Seldom seen.
